Patel Residence

This was a town home renovation located in the heart of Bethesda Maryland. There was not one part of the existing home that was not touched in some way during the redesign. The existing finishes were colonial in look and finish. The new owners wanted a more contemporary look. So, everything was removed that was original. The project included 3 new full bathrooms and one powder room, 3 new bedrooms with closets, and all new glass doors throughout. New Theater area on the 3rd level. New open design for the Kitchen, Dining and Living space on the main level. On the lower level we created an upscale office area for the customers use. The home is fully controlled by a Crestron System. Roof mounted Renni hot water heaters, and all finishes were carefully chosen by the owner. This is one of our nicest projects to date. And we are thankful to the owners for having the opportunity of working with them on their home.

Meany Kitchen & Bath

This job was designed by DGI Design Group/ Diane Gordy (301-229-9500). The job consisted of a complete renovation to the existing 3 bedroom condo in Arlington, Virginia. It included all new large crown molding, wood baseboards, and flush solid core doors. One bathroom was renovated to include a walk in shower, while the other one features a soaking tub. New granite top vanities were included in both bathrooms. The new kitchen was renovated to include new low voltage track lighting and a more contemporary feel. New carpet and tile flooring was also installed.

Gularson Addition / Kitchen / Deck and Bathroom

This job was designed by John Shermer, Architect. (301-788-5152). It included a first level kitchen expansion of 8′ × 20′ with a second level bedroom expansion of 6′ × 20’ with a full bath. On both floors we removed the existing exterior walls and installed new support beams, allowing for the addition. The first floor kitchen was moved out into the new addition. The existing kitchen area was expanded with additional cabinets and an island featuring a sink. We redesigned the wall between the dining room to become a low wall serving as a counter, wine cooler, and new pantry cabinets. We also created a new desk area for the children to do homework. We complimented the kitchen with recessed lights, new hardwood flooring, and granite counters throughout. The upper level bedroom was expanded to include a very large walk-in closet and full bathroom with soaking tub. In addition, we enlarged the openings to the sun room to complete the open feeling of the new kitchen and dining area.

Belcher Country Porch

This design was by John Shermer (301-788-5152). This job consisted of a full wrap around porch on three sides of the existing home. The owner had just recently completed the replacement of the windows, siding, and roof to bring the home up to date. We finished the country look by adding the porch and overhead porch roof to match all existing finishes. The decking chosen was GEO-DECK vinyl composite. We added overhead lighting for evenings out on the porch. The owner then completed the job by adding a stone patio and walkway leading to the parking area.

Department of State Cafeteria / Washington, D.C.

This project was one of our biggest and most challenging to date. We are most thankful for the opportunity made to us by Jim Chapman, who was the Project Manager for the DOS. The project was completed in 7 months. The amount of detail and the design added to the lunch time eating experience for the employees.

Togo Canopy

This was our first job outsite the United States. We had the opportunity and privilege to work with a local Company, BAK Transaction LLC, Mr. Amah. These two buildings complete with a full set of aluminum bleachers built in place were for a government event. It was for the 50th year celebration of their Independence from the French. The two canopies were to provide seating and shade for the Presidents special invited guests. Don Hartman personally traveled to Togo to oversee the erection of this project along with a team of 9 men from the area to do the steel erection and the oversite of the bleacher installation. Once on site, we had the opportunity to train and work alongside of the local labors that were provided by another one of the local General Contractors. The local help was very eager to help, and they were quick learners.

DRHCI would like to give special thanks to the following companies: Corle Building Systems / Frank Kmetz; T.J. Distributors / Jason Dinan; Precision Installations, Inc. / David Brownson; Taft Construction / Tim Fadorsen; and World Cargo / Gary Schwartz. It took us 23 days to complete the project once we arrived in Togo.

McKenny Great Room

Finishes included new Oak Hardwood flooring throughout, with crown molding and structural columns to accent the opening.

Roberts Great Room / 2 Story Addition / Deck and Bath

This project was another great room, 20' x 20' with a 12/12 pitched vaulted ceiling. Gas fireplace in the gable end, with full arch. stone to accent the area. We also created an overlook from a second floor bedroom that became an office for the customer. Also, we added a 2 car garage 20' x 35' on the side of the home, with a fullsized master bedroom on the second level, which included a walk in closet, full bathroom with Jacuzzi tub and walk in shower. In the back of the garage, we added a Mud room with a pet wash area. We added a covered front porch, with Stone facade, and moved the entry drive way to the opposite side of the property. This was one of our nicer projects and the customer was a joy to work with.
